The star system known as Seris has been a thriving jewel in the Imperium's crown. Boasting a huge populace and numerous habitable planets it has flourished for years of human occupation. The system has produced billions of tons of raw materials, food, and human souls to feed the Imperium's needs. Some of the worlds even have sectors of wealth and opulence so great as to entice nobility to set up permanent residence there or serve as popular vacation destinations. That all suddenly changed recently as all communication with Seris has gone dead. Scanners and probes from nearby systems have investigated but none have returned. Small detachments of guardsmen have been sent in but none have returned. The only evidence that the system is still there has been produced with long range visual equipment. Even then it appears the system’s inhabitants have simply disappeared. In a flurry of panic multiple Imperial fleets have been ordered to the system as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, the disparate timelines for interstellar communications mean that the orders are clearly that no one is to be trusted until the cause of this incident has been discovered. This means that at best Imperial forces may be keeping an accusing eye on their brothers whle at worst they will attack each other for suspition of treachery. Other races besides humans have noticed too. Even as the Imperial forces speed to the rescue of the system the forces of chaos and xeno threats loom up out of the void of space to plunder and lay claim to this system. Each of these fleets have their own agenda as well and would rather destroy any of the others than let the vast riches of this system fall into anyone's hands but their own. Whether the fleets that arrive are attempting to uncover the mystery of this system or to simply move on and populate it themselves all those who enter this system may find themselves subject to the same fate as it’s former inhabitants.
