June 30th Power Progresion Tournament

Postby Icejack » Tue Jun 05, 2012 11:44 pm

So June 30th I will be running a tournament and Steve brought up a good idea and most of the people there enjoyed it, so we are going with that. We are starting out at 15 pts, you have your warcaster/warlock, warjacks/warbeasts, units, and solos. The caster has to be a prime version, if you want to use an epic version you have to use that casters prime version and upgrade to the epic at a certain point value. The same goes for character jacks and beasts, you have to have the base version first than upgrade to that character later on. And the unit composition that you have in your original 15 point list must stay in you list throughout the tourney, as with the units that come in later. If you have access to character units you will be able to get them later on but not at 15 pts. At 25 points you can put in character units, at 35 pts you can upgrade your prime caster to an epic one, at 50 points your can upgrade to a character beast. Here is a list for reference.

15 points
Grissel 1 +5
Troll Axer 6
Pyre Troll 5
Kriel Warriors (6) 4
-KW Standard & Piper 2
Fell Caller Hero 3

25 points
Grissel 1 +5
Troll Axer 6
Pyre Troll 5
Kriel Warriors (6) 4
-KW Caber Thrower 1
-KW Standard & Piper 2
Krielstone Bearer & Scribes (4) 3
Son's of Bragg 6
Fell Caller Hero 3

35 points
Grissel 2 +6
Dire Troll Mauler 9
Troll Axer 6
Pyre Troll 5
Kriel Warriors (6) 4
-KW Caber Thrower 2
-KW Standard & Piper 2
Krielstone Bearer & Scribes (4) 3
-KS Stone Scribe Elder 1
Son's of Bragg 6
Fell Caller Hero 3

50 points
Grissel 2 +6
Rok 11
Troll Axer 6
Pyre Troll 5
Runebearer 2
Kriel Warriors (10) 6
-KW Caber Thrower 3
-KW Standard & Piper 2
Krielstone Bearer & Scribes (4) 3
-KS Stone Scribe Elder 1
Son's of Bragg 6
Pyg Burrowers (10) 6
Fell Caller Hero 3
Stone Scribe Chronicler 2

So each point value will be a round, so 1st round is 15 pts, 25 pts is second round and so on. Should I make it five rounds and add a point value such as 20 points or 75 points? Any suggestion to change it or questions feel free to post a comment.

So, we going to be nice and let people use Colossals and Gargs?

I'm probably going to ask about some suggestions and that tomorrow. And Anthony said that a week ahead of time he will have a sign up sheet for it out.

by be nice you mean NOT use them for the people who weren't at L&L? That's what i think you meant.

I think you will find that you don't need to bring them to be competitive, but they are fun to fight and fun to use so I didn't see the harm. I'm not trying to give anyone a huge advantage here, but rather want to use a sweet model that is actually rather balanced.

If Colossals/Gargantuans are going to be allowed then people should be able to proxy theirs that have not been released yet, since allowing them in this tournament would be a deviation from standard PP tourne rules anyways.

Honestly I wouldn't mind that at all. I really want to get some play time against these things and testing them out seems fine to me, but all in all it comes down to the general consensus. I'm fine with it either way, I just figured I would ask. I guess it will be fun enough to play it in all my casual games. :P

I'm going to make up a list of the upgrades for the light's and heavy's into character ones, so there is no debate. And for now I think no Colossals/Gargantuans in the tournament will be better, since almost no one has one and its basically a one list tournament. So it seems unfair to allow them at this time, although ofcourse if everyone in the store tells me otherwise I am willing to change it. But I believe they will be fine for the league, even proxying them.
